Dr. Hsu attended Harvard University where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry.  He received his medical degree from the prestigious University of California, Davis School of Medicine.  After completing his internal medicine internship at the University of California, he went on to complete his residency in ophthalmology at Tufts New England Eye Center.  Dr. Hsu completed his fellowship training at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston and Tufts-New England Eye Center in glaucoma with internationally recognized leaders in the field. He has experience in the use of advanced technology for evaluating glaucoma, treating patients with complex glaucoma, and surgical treatment of cataract complicated by glaucoma.

Dr. Hsu publishes regularly in Ocular Surgery News.  He has also written a book chapter on Nanophthalmos and has presented nationally on glaucoma and anterior segment diseases.  He has conducted clinical research on the use of the ultra-high resolution OCT in structural analysis of the glaucomatous optic nerve. 

Dr. Hsu is a volunteer with the Lions Community Eye Screening program as part of his commitment to preventing blindness from glaucoma and other eye diseases.

Dr.  Hsu is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and a Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  He performs advanced glaucoma procedures, including valve placement trabeculoplasty, glaucoma laser procedures, and small-incision cataract surgery. 

Dr. Hsu has a special interest in the early detection and diagnosis of glaucoma and medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma.  His second language is fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
